Jessi boarded the train after saying good-bye to her parents. She walked to the nearest compartment and saw some people in it. She opened the door and looked in. "Hi." she said. "Can I sit with you guys?"

Lavender looked up at the scarlet Hogwarts Express and grinned at her parents. Every summer, she counted down to the days when she would see this train pull into platform 9 3/4, and now, here it was, set and ready to take her on yet another wild ride through Hogwarts, but this year, she was sixteen. As a sort of rites of passage ceremony, she, Parvati, and Parvati's twin sister Padma had planned an escapade from the castle into Hogsmeade to get some Firewhisky from the tiny Hog's Head Pub. Hmmm... This would be a very interesting year. She turned around and faced her parents, grinning ear-to-ear. "Mum. Dad. I love you very much, but I really have to get going because the train leaves in four minutes." She kissed each of her parents on the cheek and boarded the express, her new cat, Sammy, following her. "Goodbye!" she said, as the doors closed behind her. "I love you!"

"Thanks" said Jessi. She walked into the compartment and sat down next to Nikki. "So, what year are you all in?" she asked as she sat down.

Ron said bye to his mum and dad. His mum almost refused to let him go, "Not my baby boy! He'll be in danger!" Ron struggled out of his mum's death grip and said, "I'll be fine mum. I can fend for myself." His dad leaned close to his ear, "I know son, but that doesn't stop a parent's worry. Just try and stay out of it as much as you can." Ron nodded and boarded the train. He was a Prefect so he had to sit in the Prefect section. He looked blankly out the window and said nothing.

Livith dragged her trunk through the train, searching for a place to sit, her faithful cat Dustin in a carrying case under her arm. "It's such a pain," she muttered under her breath, "having to lug this thing everywhere. If I'd known I'd have lifted weights all summer," she complained.

Hearing someone's voice, Lavender turned around to see who it belonged to. Oh! It was just a small girl, probably a first year. Might as well be nice. "Oh, hello," she said, her eyes brightening. "Need any help with your trunk?"

"Oh, no thanks," Livith replied, opening the door of an empty carriage and shoving it inside the luggage rack. "There," she sighed, sitting down.

Lavender sat down across from her. "I'm Lavender Brown. Sixth year resident of Gryffindor. Who are you? Are you a first year?"

"Yeah, I'm a first year if that's what you call 'em," she said, fumbling with the lock on Dust's case. "Name's Livith Moravec,"

"I don't realy know much about the houses, so I couldn't say," she asnwered. Livith opened the door of Dust's case and he emerged, slightly shaken, and curled up on her lap.
